atmosphere

You can drown in a negative atmosphere. You can even self-destruct and do stupid things and say horrible words. In this moment I was hateful and irate. But thanks to a wonderful God who doesn't get offended, he sent a glorious word that was full of encouragement and forgiveness. Thank you Jesus for being REAL in my life.

Apocalypto music

2008 April
French President Nicolas Sarkozy pledges 700 French soldiers to Afghanistan. Russian President Vladimir Putin abandons his bellicose rhetoric. Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez moves his troops to the border with Columbia. Bundesgrenzschutz caught up in Euro politics. Mean while U.S. President Bush dances to democracy tunes, via former soviet block, with Georgia's ex-President Mikhail Saakashvili, as Kosovo and Ukraine try to decide between U.S. and Russia. Unlike China who has chosen Putin's world theories. At the same time, U.S. military forces are used in Iraq as security forces for corporate enterprise's trucking transportation. Ask Bad Voodoo company. (Frontline 1 April 2008)

Ah nothing like spring pollen to bring out the rotten in civilized society. Then again, maybe we need 'life imitating art' leaders to keep the chaos from exploding.

Shirley Chisholm

Shirley Chisholm
I watched a PBS documentary about a woman who ran for U.S. President in 1972. Her name was Shirley Chisholm. Although we all know she didn't win, her story is still inspiring for any young lady who is feeling that they can't make a difference. (YES YOU CAN!) Chisholm may not have achieved her Presidential goal, but she did open doors for many others and changed history. Her courage and fortitude was awesome.

That 'Ole Train

Inspired by listening to the soundtrack:
South of Heaven West of Hell

We get to thinking we're at the end, just riding that 'ole train, regardless of how we might want to dream. We glance at the passing train stations. Leaving no memories, just blurred visions like our dreams. When we focus on one station, thinking ...this is what I'd like to do and this is where I'd like to be. It seems that old damn father time pours more coal on for the engine to speed up and let us know, might as well relax and just ride on past. We then laugh with a tired sad soul at the thought that we even had a choice. Thinking, well, no need in getting off or trying to alter the track. So we escape behind rose colored glasses and self-convincing lies.

I have to say, that was me...yesterday. Something invisible, something calm and quiet, graced up behind me and gently removed those damn glasses. Glad they were on the same train, but saw it all different. Now I view clearly what can be done, if only we'd wake up. I'm a bit hazy after riding that smokey steel horse for years, laying dormat and lazy. I stuck my head out the open window, letting that breeze sting my face. I realized I was still alive. Now I had a choice. Either forget that tiny moment of feeling vibrant, or choose a destination where I could get off that damn train.

And let me tell ya, no amount of coal was going to stop me. Batter and bruised, I landed in a spot that wasn't what I thought. But as I turned to see that 'ole train clanging down those metal beams without me, I didn't give a damn I wasn't were I was suppose to be. A big grin told me, I'd find the pathway, dusty and dry or cold and wet, I'd find the steps I needed or they'd find me. I never felt more alive.

That train was comfortable and sure, while slowly killing me. Now in wonderment and uncertain, I was alive, or at least I knew I was alive. Might not find that dream, might not find that station where I'd like to be. But damn, I won't be sitting and clanging. I'll be moving forward, not bound by metal beams, just bound by my dreams.

Paula Deen's Memoir

  • Listening to: (song) Millennium by Robbie Williams
I began reading Paula Deen's book, It Ain't All About the Cookin'. It is a wonderful read. Her words inspire. She talks about dealing with agoraphobia. She is also frank about her life and emotions. I enjoyed how she didn't let age stop her from dreaming or taking action toward making her life better, more stable, more secure. This helps me, or reminds me, not to give up and let laziness or lack of will power kill off my dream. Her story also shows how we must get out and mingle. People can help you along the way. No one does it alone. But if you hide away or stay stale, no one will know how to help or you'll never meet them.

If you enjoy reading, this is one book to pick up. If you're not a Paula Deen fan, but love to read, wait until it's at the library and then check it out.

And for her fans, yes, there are receipes scattered through out the book.
